An auto shop as a business is how profitable it is. How to open a car shop: business plan from A to Z

Transport has always been in demand, so even in a crisis, cars are in demand among buyers. Starting your own business in the automotive sector does not have to be by opening a car dealership. This is a more costly option for future profits. My immediate desire is that I want to operate from a lower segment of the automotive market. How to open an auto parts store? You need to follow the instructions, and with a clear strategy you can stabilize your income in the near future.

We formalize the activity

There are several options for registering a business. If we consider an auto parts store from scratch, then a less expensive and troublesome format is an individual entrepreneur. A beginner will need to collect the necessary list of documents:

  • Submitting an application for registration of individual entrepreneurs.
  • Entrepreneurs passport and TIN.
  • Certificate of payment of state duty.
  • Obtaining permission from the SES and fire service.

Legal registration of a business will prevent risks for the entrepreneur.

Deciding on the store format

After legalizing the business, you should decide on the specialization of the outlet. Huge selection of options:

  • Specialized store (sale of spare parts only from a specific manufacturer).
  • A universal direction - the retail outlet specializes in goods for all brands of cars.
  • Large salon, including service station services.

Where to begin? An analysis of competition, product prices, and demand for products in the city where the individual entrepreneur opened will help you make your choice.

Important: a retail outlet with a narrow focus (“Gazelle” or “Volga”) should work only with an established customer base.

Room and location

The success factor largely depends on the location and premises of the outlet. Criterias of choice:

  1. Start a business in a sector with high foot traffic.
  2. Narrowing the circle of competition.
  3. Availability of car parking.

The size of the premises for an auto parts store should not be less than 50 square meters. m., the area for the warehouse area is also taken into account here. Renting a retail outlet minimizes the entrepreneur's costs; starting a business from scratch does not involve purchasing premises due to low capital.

Important: If something is missing in the room, you should contact the designers.

Suppliers

A popular collaboration in the car market is one or two buyers of goods. Preference is given to official representatives who supply only high-quality parts for cars. You should start your search with the intermediaries of these companies. Main selection factors:

  • Reputation of the dealer company.
  • Product quality.
  • Reviews from other clients.
  • Experience in the auto parts market.
  • Profitable price.
  • Long-term cooperation.
  • Possibility of returning defective parts.

You should pay attention to the narrow supply profile. This will provide worthy competition to other stores (selling rare oil for cars or unique accessories).

Tip: additional product in the store adds profit, thanks to a significant markup on parts. To correctly distribute the cost of spare parts, you need to analyze the prices of competitors. Where to start, it’s better to study the current catalogs of other stores.

Equipment purchase

Your own business requires taking into account all the nuances, so you will need equipment for your retail outlet. Rental of indoor kits is possible from representatives who supply the goods. Scroll:

  • Showcase.
  • Shelving.
  • Cabinets.
  • Racks.
  • Cash machine.
  • Computer and printer.

Equipment is placed according to the area of the room. The store must be accessible to the customer, so everything is distributed with comfort in mind.

Important: the equipment must correspond to the size of the room; without this requirement, the work of the store will become inconvenient.

Staff

How to open an auto parts store without employees? At the first stage, such a step is simply impossible. Being an accountant and salesperson on your own is expensive, so you need to select several consultants. Here, a separate approach to personnel selection is required:

  1. The future employee must have a good understanding of cars.
  2. Have some experience working with spare parts.
  3. Friendliness.
  4. The presence of tolerance.
  5. Persuasiveness.

These qualities will help you avoid conflict situations with clients. An entrepreneur must be 100% confident in his employees; it is better to hire personnel with a probationary period. Setting up an auto parts store from scratch will not work without an accountant and a security guard.

Important: any retail outlet requires coordinated work, therefore a personnel control system is being introduced (installation of surveillance cameras and monetary motivation of employees).

We form an assortment

High profitability and low segment of entering a business from scratch, the auto parts market includes a lot of competition. An entrepreneur must choose a specialization that will always be in demand. It may be a small assortment of car parts, but this strategy will allow you to stay afloat for a long time. List of goods that will be sold in any market conditions:

  • Lights, bumpers, engines.
  • Side doors and mirrors.
  • Signal accessories.
  • Pendants.
  • Racks.

The assortment for a retail outlet necessarily includes several areas:

  • Spare parts for trucks of Russian and foreign manufacture (wear and tear due to commercial work).
  • Cars from Japanese manufacturers (right-hand drive). These rare parts are purchased from suppliers in a minimum quantity, and it is better to make the service “to order”.
  • Parts for passenger cars (Russian cars are often repaired).

Advice: in addition to the main product, you need to introduce anti-freeze products, winter and summer tires, and special solvents

Marketing moves

Advertising plays a significant role in business from scratch; in order to move forward, a high-quality strategy should be developed. An auto parts retail outlet does not require colorful signs or unique logos. The best option is an attractive name and an interesting appeal for buyers. Attracting clients is impossible without additional tools:

  • Distribution of booklets and leaflets.
  • Posting on the Internet.
  • Providing free consultations.
  • Discounts for regular customers.

Normalization of income depends on sales; to establish balance in the store, you need to attract your circle of customers.

Working on the Internet

Everyone starting their own business immediately allocates a separate sector of income. In a situation with an auto parts store, opening an online store is the right decision. This income will be an effective link in the operation of the overall system. And in order to study in more detail all the nuances of creating an online store, we recommend that you read the article. Parameters for starting activities:

  • Website creation.
  • Registration of individual entrepreneurs.
  • Organization of an online catalogue.
  • Convenient order form.
  • Working with official representatives.

An online store selling auto parts is a popular niche and does not require large expenses.

Important: having resorted to creating a store online, you should choose the optimal payment system for customers.

Business financial plan

It is important to know that to open your own business, you need starting capital:

  • Equipment rental – from 50,000 thousand rubles.
  • Cosmetic renovation of the premises - from 60,000 thousand rubles.
  • Initial purchase of goods – from 1,500,000 million rubles.
  • Advertising – from 45,000 thousand rubles.

Initial costs for opening an auto parts store – from 1,800,000 million rubles.

The monthly amount in favor of operating activities includes:

  • Staff salary – from 50,000 thousand rubles.
  • Rent of space – from 50,000 thousand rubles.
  • Utility payments – from 15,000 thousand rubles.
  • Payment of taxes - from 10,000 thousand rubles.

Costs every month - from 125,000 thousand rubles.

The project's payback includes: markup - 25% on expensive goods, 100% on car accessories. The approximate profit for a store in a busy place is 180,000 thousand rubles. You can recoup the costs of your business after 12 months.

Nowadays, almost everyone wants to have their own business - albeit a small one, but one that guarantees profit. The idea of opening an auto parts store is probably a great success! will be accepted by experienced drivers and those who are simply well versed in the mechanisms of the car. Purchasing parts for sale is a delicate matter, so not every car service owner is able to purchase high-quality spare parts at good wholesale prices. But all this comes later. First, you need to figure out how relevant this business is, how to build a store and how to manage it competently.

Rules for trading auto parts: is it profitable?

It's no secret that the demand for Russian auto parts is quite large; car owners constantly need to keep their cars in working condition by replacing certain old parts with new ones. Even in times of severe crisis, when the business of large businessmen collapsed, from which others also suffered, stores specializing in the sale of automobile parts did not remain without profit and practically did not feel a lack of funds. This can be explained by the fact that at that time people did not have enough money to buy a new car, so even those who were not going to do this in the conditions of the previous economy had to repair the old one.

However, for starters, it would be nice to find out what the trade in car parts is and learn about all the intricacies of this type of activity.

It is worth knowing that the general name “trade of auto parts” has a much wider field of activity (if we talk about truly successful salons). This is the sale of not only components and assemblies, but also the sale of various consumables and a number of related automotive products.

The owner of an auto parts store can purchase goods both directly from the plant that produces them, and from manufacturers who have no connection with the factories. Of course, the first option is much more reliable, and you should not prefer the second just because of a small difference in price. After all, if the parts are supplied to the store directly from the factory, you, as a distributor, will have the opportunity to control production, and this means confidence in quality.

We will talk about what type of purchase you should choose, but it is also worth remembering that production facilities themselves set a number of requirements for the distributor. For example, you will not be able to purchase and sell UAZ auto parts if your store has less than three years of experience. And the total cost of all goods must be at least 10,000,000 rubles. At the start of the opening, it will definitely not be possible to meet such requirements, and therefore it is worth looking for another supplier.

The payback period for a store is no more than 1-1.5 years (it’s difficult to say an exact figure, since too much depends on the profitability of the enterprise where you will purchase goods, the number of similar salons selling auto parts in your city, and so on). You can calculate a more or less accurate payback period by drawing up a business plan for selling auto parts, without which it is almost impossible to open a store of this specialization. You can use a previously drawn up business plan for any currently profitable salon, if you can get the appropriate calculations.

Example of a successful business

The Avtolandia online store has been successfully operating since 2012. The franchising program was launched in April 2014. Since the opening, the franchise has started operating in 25 cities in Russia and Kazakhstan. The Autolandia franchise has already established itself as generating a stable income.

The advantage of this company is that it is in this online store that the buyer can always find the necessary information about the product and read numerous truthful customer reviews.

Having decided to start your own business in the trading field of sales of car alarms, radar detectors and video recorders, you will not find a more attractive offer than this.

In order to start working under the Autolandia franchise, you do not need large financial investments; you can work no more than 2-3 hours a day and do not require special knowledge.

Economic indicators are impressive. Already in the first year of opening your own enterprise, you can have about 250-300 thousand rubles in profit.

All those who join the large and friendly team gain invaluable experience in this field. For work, the company will provide all the necessary documents, which will include information about the product and suppliers.

An online store means freedom of movement, the absence of sellers and cashiers, managers and consultants. The franchisee will take into account all your wishes and help you organize your business.

The mentor is ready to pass on his experience and best practices to everyone who wants to achieve success. The main thing is not to be afraid, try and you will succeed.

Franchise business "Autoreality" as an alternative to a regular store

By purchasing the Autoreality franchise, a person will be able to develop his business selling auto parts and accessories for foreign cars. It will be enough for him to invest a minimum of only 95 thousand rubles in this promising business.

The franchisor, in turn, will help the newly-minted businessman launch his turnkey business, and also promises lifelong support for such a business. A person who has purchased an Autoreality franchise will begin to make a profit from the first days of operation of his ready-made website for the sale of spare parts for foreign cars. To do this, he doesn’t even need business experience.

In addition, the businessman will pay a royalty to his franchisor in the amount of five percent of the profit only starting from the third month of the site’s operation.

It is important to note that expert-level specialists will work on search engine optimization of a website operating under the Autoreality franchise. This will allow you to promote your site to the TOP in a short time (3-4 months) and, accordingly, increase your customer base several times.

Auto parts for Russian cars or foreign cars?

Those who plan to open an auto parts store often face the question: “should we focus on selling parts for foreign cars or spare parts for Russian cars?” . It depends on what kind of cars there are more in your city - such statistics can be found on the Internet. If their number differs insignificantly, it is better to give preference to parts from Russian manufacturers. This is especially true for those who are going to cooperate with the plant directly.

It is much easier to control production within the country of residence than that located abroad. Be sure to consider these aspects when creating a business plan for an auto parts store.

What spare parts are in high demand?

Not long ago, statistics were calculated in Russia, the essence of which was to determine the most popular auto parts that are in great demand. We provide you with this ranking by degree of decline in popularity:

  • Mitsubishi;
  • Audi;
  • Lexus;
  • Suzuki;
  • Hyundai.

Statistics may be somewhat inaccurate (again, a lot depends on the area you live), but in general, parts for these machines are popular in Russia. You can create a store that will specialize in selling parts only for a specific car brand - this is relevant if you manage to correctly calculate which spare parts are in short supply in your area and establish close cooperation with the supplier. In this case, the option of working with an intermediary is not considered, because you will need to find out about all the intricacies of work and production in general, and the intermediary definitely does not have such information.

Store space

In order to open an auto parts store, you need to buy or rent premises located in a residential area of the city (the general calculations given below assume the purchase of premises). If in the future you plan to expand the scale of sales, increase the assortment, that is, develop the activity of the store, choose the size of the premises with a reserve.

The minimum area for a store should be about 100 square meters. It is also necessary that there be water supply, electricity, sewerage and, of course, heat. Since the line of business is the sale of spare parts, it means that near your salon, and for now just near the newly acquired building, there must be a place to park at least five to seven cars. When choosing a premises, be sure to pay attention to the fact that there are no similar stores nearby - competition on the first steps of your activity is of no use to you.

It is better to choose a room that has more than three rooms. One of them should be equipped as a warehouse, the second as a retail space, and all the rest will be utility rooms. It would be great if there was a gas station nearby—the sales of such salons, as a rule, are one and a half to two times higher than those of others.

In order for your store to develop normally, you should register with the Federal Tax Service as an LLC or individual entrepreneur. After registration you will need to collect:

  • fire department permit;
  • permission from the sanitary service;
  • documentation for the right of territorial property management.

In the case of renting premises, most of the permits must be held by the landlord.

If you decide to rent a building, you must carefully and carefully study the terms of the contract that will need to be signed with the owners.

Pay attention to the clause about the possibility of increasing the rent and study the terms of the increase, and also take a look at who is responsible for paying for utilities.

A mandatory clause in such an agreement should be an indication of penalties for non-compliance with the rules of the agreement, if there are specific nuances, or for early termination of the contract. Don't forget to ask about the possibility of extending the lease - it's better if you have guarantees. Because in the future a situation may arise that you advertise your salon, it will gain popularity, and the lease will expire, and you will be required to immediately vacate the building.

Trade equipment for an auto parts store

The store, of course, requires equipment. Need to purchase:

  • showcases;
  • shelves;
  • boxes and other containers for storing auto parts;
  • cash machine;
  • shells;
  • tables.

And a lot of other things are required for normal operation. You will be aware of this as you work.

How to find auto parts suppliers?

Finding large suppliers of auto parts is not a matter of one week. Consider all possible options, contact production, collect as much information as possible about each of them. Analyze your competitor base - there is no point in competing with well-known chain stores.

The largest suppliers of auto parts in Russia are easier to find - they are more popular and have fewer requirements than those that produce parts for foreign cars.

Recruitment

Well-chosen staff is half the success. After all, it is these people who will present the parts; the potential client’s opinion about the spare parts that he came to purchase largely depends on them. Therefore, choosing personnel is a delicate matter that requires some effort. We have compiledlist of qualities that a good salesperson should havein the auto parts showroom.

  • Professionalism - you can’t live without it. A person must be able to qualitatively inform a potential buyer about everything that may interest him. It is best if the staff is not only trained according to the standard, but also has a couple of stories from personal experience that they can deftly use when working with clients.
  • Experience is an important point. It’s good if the person working in your salon has extensive experience working with large chain stores specializing in the sale of components and assemblies. This way, you won’t have to teach him the specifics of sales, which, by the way, not every novice entrepreneur understands.
  • Ability to speak. Even if an employee of your store is simply a top-level connoisseur of car technology, if he stands quietly on the sidelines and waits for someone to ask him a question, you should not expect success. People who can speak well will bring you much more profit and give your store a good reputation. Moreover, the ability to speak does not mean the ability to talk well about a particular product, but it means to inform as clearly and specifically as possible about the properties of the product, provide data on the quality of production and good cost, and it is also the ability to speak first. Don’t think that consultants who approach potential clients themselves seem intrusive and annoying. The right approach is sure to be successful.

As general advice, I would like to say that it would be better if the salary of a sales consultant is not just on a permanent basis. Let the amount of payments depend on sales - this will be a wonderful incentive for work.

At first, supervise the work of your subordinates. And over time, arrange sudden checks so that they do not relax and continue to work efficiently and with dedication.

Marketing and advertising of an auto parts store

Let's talk about advertising and marketing. Some stores (this applies not only to this type of activity) begin to take regular advertising from the Internet right from the start: they copy images found by a search engine, print texts found on some website. Such stores, as a rule, quickly become bankrupt. Why? The fact is that buyers find the same pictures and the same texts on the Internet, see that this information is not specifically about your service - in other words, they consider your salon frivolous and incapable of selling worthy goods.

There is no need to spare money on promotion. Marketing is the key to success. Don’t be lazy to take a photo of your store, capture something that will indicate the quality of services. Hiring a person to write good and professional texts on a topic is very, very easy these days. There must be a short description for each product; Of course, it will be great if the description is complete and long, but the writing costs will be quite high, since a lot of texts will be required. The main thing is to highlight in the description the main advantages of each part purchased in your salon.

Advertising distribution is also an important aspect. Advertising posts on the World Wide Web will help the store double or even triple its popularity. Hire promoters, that is, people who, for a certain amount, will distribute leaflets with your slogans and contacts. It is a mistake to think that this method of promotion is not effective, and that a person will throw the received advertisement into the nearest trash bin. Of course, there will be some, but the work of a promoter is an art. Therefore, if you manage to find a professional in this field, it will be very great.

How much will it cost to open a store?

In order to successfully open an auto parts store, which will become relevant in a short time, and the goods in it will be in great demand, you need to have a start-up capital of about one and a half million rubles. If you are able to properly organize the work process, purchase of goods, etc., then your monthly revenue will be about a million. But we mentioned that payback takes longer, and this is due to the fact that in your activities certain nuances will certainly arise that are impossible to calculate, and you will also need to pay for the work of staff, spend considerable sums on promotion and advertising campaigns.

The main costs will be the following:

  • expenses for purchasing or renting premises;
  • store equipment;
  • staff salaries;
  • purchase of goods;
  • advertising campaign;
  • taxes.

Make sure that your capital is enough for all of the above items, because the lack of money at the initial stage is a more than significant problem. For the rest, a clear action plan that you need to follow relentlessly will help you. Good luck!

At the beginning of the 21st century, a car is no longer a luxury: in Russia, according to statistics, more than 75% of families own at least one car. This means that an urgent need is to provide this entire fleet with spare parts. In light of the above, it is clear that opening an auto parts store from scratch designed for a large number of foreign and domestic models is a very profitable investment!

How much does it cost to open such a store? My own experience suggests that 1,200,000-1,300,000 rubles will be enough for this purpose. At the same time, the payback period of the project should not exceed one and a half years, and then the net profit will be 150-200 thousand rubles monthly.

The costs of opening an auto parts store for foreign cars include:

  • Rent of premises – 35-40 thousand rubles. per month;
  • Turnkey renovation and furnishing of the store before opening - about 70 thousand rubles;
  • Purchase of commercial equipment and furniture - within 110 thousand rubles;
  • Purchase of auto parts for the store - about 290 thousand rubles. (in the first month you will have to spend about 600 thousand rubles);
  • Salary to staff (3 people) – approximately 100,000 rubles/month;
  • “Communal” and Internet – 17-18 thousand rubles. monthly;
  • Marketing expenses, advertising and external decoration of the premises will cost approximately 100,000 rubles.
  • In addition, the budget must include an amount of 100 thousand rubles for “unforeseen expenses” - they are not uncommon in this business!

The minimum set of equipment includes shelving, a cash register and 1-2 computers with Internet access for the convenience of finding the auto parts customers need.

Regarding the staff: most often it consists of three people: a director (who is often represented by the entrepreneur himself) and two sales consultants working in shifts. It is advisable for the store to be open without breaks or weekends, since the client can arrive at any time.

As for the profit from an auto parts store, it can amount to up to 80% of the funds invested in the purchase of spare parts after the company has recouped its investment!

How to properly plan the opening of an auto parts store

First you need to decide on your target audience. Practice shows that 80% of these are ordinary car enthusiasts, although as the business develops it is often possible to reach large clients, for example, service station directors. It is worth remembering that competition in this business is quite fierce, so you should not skimp on promotions and conduct a competent marketing policy, at least at first. A good result of the store’s activities should be recognized as the presence in the first month of 7-8 customers per day who made a purchase in the amount of 500 rubles or more. In subsequent months, the number of such clients should gradually increase to 20-25 people per day.

The location of the outlet should also be carefully considered. Ideally, it should be located near service stations, car washes, garage cooperatives, but it is also necessary to take care of good access roads and parking.

In order to stay afloat, the store must maintain a flexible pricing policy and constantly monitor all changes in the auto products market. And sellers must not only have an excellent understanding of the product being offered, but also love their job so much that, if necessary, for example, they can go with the client to his car to see the compatibility of the proposed part with other elements.

It wouldn’t hurt to open an online store: this will significantly expand the range of spare parts offered and establish contacts with wholesale suppliers.

It is worth deciding in advance on the organizational and legal form: an “individual entrepreneur” is perfect for an auto parts store. This form does not require much time to complete documents at the tax office; the list of documents for registration is minimal. This type of business involves a preferential tax regime, and accounting and tax accounting is so simple that it makes sense to outsource it.

Reader reviews

This plan is good. But this needs to be done not alone, but with several partners. And draw up a business plan in which you indicate exactly which supplier you are working with and whether he can bring goods without interruption. Zap. parts are like necessary things, they are always in demand.

baxtiyar911, and in order to avoid supply interruptions, you need to simultaneously establish contacts with several online stores, plus, possibly, several large network companies offering spare parts “in real life”. In this case, the profit, of course, will be less, since you are essentially buying from a reseller.

As for running a business together, it’s not advisable to have more than one partner, because you can’t expect exorbitant profits, and “lowering” your profit to 50 thousand a month “for each of the three” is also somehow joyless... And managing together , and even more so, such a business is not very convenient for three of us!

Yes, to open such a store, you need quite a decent amount of initial capital. But, if you decide to open such a store, you can be sure that the profit from it will be good.

Competition in this type of business is very high, therefore, before opening it, finding out the relevance and demand for certain spare parts will not be difficult. And this is necessary in order to understand how your store will compare favorably with competitors. I think you need to focus your attention on certain types of cars - German, Japanese or domestic.”

This is a twofold business. On the one hand, with popular parts, competition is high. On the other hand, with rare ones - even if your store is the only one in the city, there will be almost no one to take it. The best option is to bribe with price and take with quantity. Open a store in a place that is easily accessible from anywhere, and make the prices good (and not a crazy gain that if you give at least a 70% discount, it’s still a +). Then there is a good chance that people will recommend it to each other when they come only to you. But, again, competitors won't like it.

So it turns out that by getting rid of one problem in such a business, we stumble upon another.

Everything depends, apparently, on the size of the city or other settlement and the number of motorists in it. Even here, in the Moscow Region - and I have traveled almost the entire Moscow region by car! — there are settlements where you won’t find auto parts stores during the day (Kolomna, for example, or Taldom). And this is where it’s worth developing this business, preferably with purchased premises, so that in case of failure you can easily “reformat” it into another business and with an initial small turnover - because, of course, there are many side factors, I don’t deny this, and It is subjective factors, and not the correctness/incorrectness of doing business that can play a decisive role here. A typical example of a mistake: a man in Lukhovitsy opened an auto parts store, betting on foreign cars, but it turned out that the majority of the city’s population drives domestic automobiles, which break down more often, but the purchases have been made, there is little working capital, and the purchased spare parts are selling poorly. The business went bust!

Opening an auto parts store (for foreign cars and our cars) from scratch is not realistic. Renting premises, purchasing spare parts is no longer a small investment, but paperwork for opening a store, registering a company, drawing up a business plan for consultation, and money is needed everywhere.

Peter Panchenko

Petr Panchenko, Everything is real. Look how many auto shops are open. They somehow opened up. And if they don’t close, that means they are living for something. Having talked with truck drivers, I know that in our city it is very difficult to find spare parts for MAZ. Although the demand is huge and there are many atomic shops.

It depends on what to do. For an online spare parts store, you will also need catalogs of auto parts that you don’t have to buy, but rent, for example.

Why not open an online auto parts store!? Business on the Internet is now very relevant and not filled with much competition. In addition, an online store requires much less investment than an offline business, renting space, etc. For example, a beautiful and professional turnkey online store can now be bought for 20 thousand rubles. For example, you can buy one in the online supermarket shopegg.ru. Or, for greater profit, you can combine and open a retail outlet and an online store.)

It is not filled with much competition, because there are two very large wholesale suppliers - Exist and Avtodok - online stores of ANY spare parts, which are already in the regions. And the fact is that those who deal with cars in their region already have even level 5 discounts in the same Autodok, which they already take everything from these people - it’s really cheap.

Therefore, opening this business is very risky, even on the Internet.

They are afraid of wolves, don’t go into the forest, the good old saying, if you don’t take risks, nothing will come of it, there are competitors in every field, and yet many create their own business, and successfully break through and occupy their pedestal in a certain field.

Last night I was wondering who would say this first) Okay, I’ll paraphrase. In order not to go broke in the first month, you need to have enough starting money to attract a buyer with availability (quick deadlines, and not like competitors - long and made to order). And it would be good to buy more than one brand of car if you want to somehow fit into this niche.

alyans, Firstly, you need to understand all this diversity very well, because it will not be easy for the average person there. And the budget must be very substantial, since even the purchase costs a decent amount.

Salaev, I am aware, thank you. I’m not talking about 2 major market players, discount levels and regional supply policy from “just one grandma said”.
I still don’t understand how an ordinary person can afford to rent a warehouse in the first month to have such a quantity of spare parts. In my opinion, it’s easier and cheaper to organize all this via the Internet and as an intermediary.

Maybe we should focus not on car parts, then there will be less competition? Yesterday I was looking for where to buy oil scraper rings for a motorcycle - I couldn’t find them, guys I knew complained that they couldn’t find spare parts for some models of quads, and it’s the same with snowmobiles. And finally, municipal and road equipment - there is also quite a lot of it, and it breaks down no less often.

Trade in auto parts in Russia is a highly profitable business, the success of which is accompanied by several factors. The number of car owners is growing year by year; it is always necessary to maintain the “iron horse” in technically sound condition; wear and tear and failure of various parts and mechanisms constantly occur.

The stable income of the owner of an auto parts store is facilitated by the love of our car enthusiasts for their brainchild, which goes beyond all boundaries. They are ready to get the necessary parts for crazy money, just so that the “swallow” runs like new and is in no way inferior to the neighbor’s.

Such observations push many businessmen to the idea of getting seriously involved in the auto parts trade. They immediately face the question: how to open an auto parts store? What nuances should be taken into account so that the business does not go bankrupt? Let's figure it out.

Where to begin?

Conduct market research

Explore the car market in your region

It is important to know the brands of cars that are in demand in a particular city or area. Find out which cars locals prefer: domestic or imported. Research data says: in large cities, premium-class foreign cars predominate; in the provinces, the share of imported and domestic cars is almost the same. Among foreign cars, budget versions of Chinese and Korean cars and used cars from European manufacturers are in demand.

Assess the solvency of future clients

A metropolis and a provincial town with a population of 150–200 thousand residents usually have different income levels. Give priority to dynamically developing regions with developed infrastructure and good indicators of growth in gross income per capita.

Assess market capacity

It is known that a fifth of the Russian population has their own car. When a town has a population of 150–200 thousand, the number of cars will be about 30 thousand. If we take into account that the population density decreases with distance from the capital, this figure will still be real: the niche is filled by residents of surrounding villages who come to the city to buy spare parts for their cars. There is room to develop.

Assess your competitors

Take the time to get to know your competitors' stores. Evaluate their location, assortment, niche that each of them occupies in the market, price level and bonus system, if one exists, facade design, interior, types of advertising they use. Of course, this project is quite difficult to implement in a large city. But, in medium-sized and small cities, a visual inspection of retail outlets can be done in 1–2 days. The addresses of car dealerships are easy to find on the Internet. After analyzing the work of your competitors, you will understand what to focus on.

Choosing a location for an auto parts store

In large cities, it is advisable to locate the store in the center, where there are always many owners of expensive foreign cars. Convenient access roads are required.

On the periphery, the options for locating a future trading enterprise are different. If you decide to open an auto parts store for foreign cars, the central part of the city, where the offices of large companies, banks, and government agencies are located, where the public with money gathers, will be a suitable place. The “Red Line” with its dense traffic flow is always attractive for locating business facilities.

Another option: create a similar business project on the outskirts, next to which there is a busy highway. Every car enthusiast passing by should notice your window display. Only in this case will you have clients.

Business plan

After studying the market in a given region, create a detailed business plan for opening an auto parts store. Contact an experienced economist who will develop a detailed business plan taking into account your opinion and the specifics of a particular city, district or region. If you do not have enough personal funds at the time of preparing to open a shopping complex, contact the bank’s credit department. Credit funds will not be provided to you without a clear action plan and detailed calculations.

Important: such a detailed description of the preparatory process is necessary for a businessman to take possible risks seriously and realistically assess the prospects of opening another auto parts store in his chosen region. It's no secret that some businesses fail. The main reason is neglect of market capacity research and overconfidence.

Yes, this is a troublesome task. Be prepared to work around the clock at first. The better you test the waters, the better your decisions will be. It’s not enough to just say: I want to open an auto parts store. You need to make an effort, show interest, and the costs will pay off.

Prospects

You have conducted a preliminary market analysis and decided that there is a free niche. What does the auto parts trading business promise?

This business is profitable. The gross margin ratio ranges from 25 to 75%. What does it mean? After deducting all costs from the revenue, you will still have a decent profit. Having invested about 1.5 million rubles in your business, with a well-organized trading process and a sufficient number of buyers, you can receive up to 300 thousand rubles every month. arrived. The investment will pay off within a year.

Are these numbers real? Certainly! Trade margins are often 20–100%. Remember how much spare parts cost. Their owners spend up to 15 thousand rubles a year on car maintenance. Spare parts account for a significant share of costs. Multiply 30 thousand motorists in a provincial town by 15 thousand rubles. Get about 400 million. It’s possible to grab a few million from the total pie.

Preparation of documentation

What documents are needed to open an auto parts store? The package is standard.

Your steps:

  1. Register your business activity. Obtain a certificate of state registration of a legal entity. If you do not plan to carry out large wholesale supplies of parts and components, (IP).
  2. Get codes from Goskomstat. First of all, “Spare parts”.
  3. Contact the tax service and receive a certificate for tax registration.
  4. Conclude agreements: for renting the selected premises and for garbage removal.
  5. Get a report from the fire inspectorate that your store meets fire safety requirements.
  6. Pay for a patent to open an auto parts store.

Financial expenses

The initial capital is at least 1.6 million rubles. Components:

  • payment for rent of premises - 40 thousand rubles. monthly;
  • inventory in the warehouse and on the sales floor - 1 million rubles.
  • purchase of retail equipment (racks, shelves, display cases), computer equipment, connection to the Internet, arrangement of the premises and its repair - up to 500 thousand rubles;
  • staff salaries (two salespeople, an accountant). Monthly from 40 thousand rubles;
  • utility bills - up to 15 thousand rubles;
  • other costs (advertising, promotions, office, unforeseen expenses) - up to 100 thousand rubles.

The size of the trade margin is set by the owner based on a comparison of this value among competitors. By lowering your prices a little, you will increase your sales volume. The minimum markup is 25%. Sellers often increase the markup to 40–50% or more.

Recruitment

Get ready for the fact that at first you will perform the duties of director and purchasing manager (supply manager) yourself. There is a positive aspect to this. You will not only save on payroll, but also delve into all the intricacies of the business.

Mandatory staff:

  • sales consultant (2 people). Salary level – from 15 thousand rubles. per month. The piecework type of remuneration increases the quality of work and interest: rate (from 5 thousand rubles) + percentage of sales;
  • accountant. Until sales volume reaches the planned level, use the services of an invited specialist. Salary – from 5–6 thousand rubles. per month.

Requirements for sellers:

  • knowledge of the entire range of spare parts offered for sale;
  • It is advisable to have your own car so that the consultant can give practical advice on replacing parts (if the buyer hesitates in choosing) or offer an alternative option;
  • grammatically correct speech. If the seller is well versed in the design of the car and can advise the client inside and out, then at first you can turn a blind eye to the vernacular or lack of knowledge of terminology. But a specialist who does not want to improve his literacy level will, after a while, begin to irritate some clients. A culture of speech must be developed.

Auto parts suppliers

Reliable suppliers are a guarantee of successful operation of the enterprise. If you have friends who supply auto parts, that’s great. If not, look for suppliers' addresses on the Internet. Read reviews about them, collect more information.

Specify:

  • supply details;
  • payment procedure;
  • guarantees;
  • availability of bonuses and discounts.

Where to buy auto parts?

Options:

  • from intermediaries;
  • directly at the manufacturer.

The second option involves lower prices. At the same time, intermediaries for regular customers establish a system of discounts and offer bonuses for the volume and number of orders. When purchasing large quantities of goods, the benefits can be significant.

  • after studying the market, decide: you will open a company store selling spare parts for one brand of car or offer customers parts for cars of different brands;
  • perhaps you will occupy a niche of spare parts for foreign or domestic cars, Japanese, European or American cars;
  • dumping is a good option. But, don't go overboard with price cuts. Competitors will become angry, and customers will begin to doubt the quality of the products supplied. Better - small discounts, but with every purchase. A cumulative bonus card for regular customers is a rational solution;
  • Place information about the store on billboards and banners along the roads so that the car owner’s eyes are caught during trips. Distribute brochures and leaflets. Newspaper is not the best option. Over time, reviews from satisfied customers will be your best (and free) advertising.
  • do not spare money on buying or renting a car to deliver spare parts to the garage or to the client’s home. "GAZelka" is an acceptable option. Fast delivery is a definite plus in your piggy bank.
  • ensure the availability of popular, in-demand spare parts in stock;
  • organize work according to the catalogue;
  • create a website for your store on the Internet. Sales volumes will increase. Remember that additional investment will be required. In this case, fast delivery of goods is an important condition for the positive image of your company.

Consider the recommendations that will help you open an auto parts store from scratch. A competent strategy, perseverance, instinct, and quick response to fluctuations in demand will help make your trading enterprise one of the best in the region.
