Why did I create a blog?

I created a blog for several reasons, but behind each of these reasons is a passion for what I do. I love sites, marketing, business and sales.

Last year I had a moment of insight. There used to be some good blogs about internet marketing and SEO in the blogosphere, but they have disappeared over the past few years. What appeared in their place? A group of sites that posted guest posts in the pursuit of profit. All that was published was of poor quality and did not contain any valuable or useful information.

It takes a lot and hard work

This does not fit into the topic of this article, but it is an important point, so I am writing about it.

I spoke with many old people in pubs, and I always asked them one question what they can advise a young guy. You usually get the same advice from most old people - tr ... that's all you can.

But the best tip I've ever heard was simple - try hard. Try your best. So I did.

Don't be fooled

Everyone who follows my blog can be deceived by the illusion of a blogger’s lifestyle. At first glance, it seems that I make a lot of money, travel the world and have fun!

This is not a reality.

Reality start work at 6 in the morning and finish at 10 in the evening. On Wednesday afternoon, I am already working out the standard 40 hour week.

It’s physically and mentally impossible for me to maintain such a pace all the time (believe me, I tried), but anyway, on average I have a working week of 70-80 hours of work in 7 days. Quite often, I forget about the regime and remain hungry. I am so immersed in work that I forget about the real world!

At the same time, I managed to travel a lot this year, but let me say that it was the most stressful time for me. Every day, when I do not work, 3-4 hours of work accumulate. So if I leave for a week, I will need to work 25 hours when I return to catch up. And this is in addition to the usual work.

So do not be fooled by the illusion of a blogger's life, a beautiful life from the side, but the reality is different. Exhausting hard work with great dedication.

But hell, I still love my job!

Training

Before starting the blog, I decided to first think a little. Being passionate about something is certainly good, but some strategy is needed!

What's the point of this? What is the purpose of this blog? What do I want to offer? Where to distribute it?

When I launched the blog, I did not expect it to become so popular. My first goal was simple - “Publishing high-quality online marketing guides.” However, I soon changed my goal. Now it sounds like this: “people will refer to my guides when someone has a question about Internet marketing.” This goal is much better than just posting articles on a blog.

Achieving this goal was a rather difficult task. I had to become a very prominent figure in my competitive niche.

But we all need goals, aren't we?

Experiment

I decided that I would achieve my goal without using one of my greatest strengths. I spent a lot of time experimenting with the technical side of SEO, and am good at link building. But I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and see if I could achieve my goal without creating any links.

So the experiment was born. Is it possible to promote an SEO blog without using SEO?

You remember me

In order for people to remember me, I paid great attention to branding. I spent a ton of time playing with color combinations to figure out what works best. In the end, I settled on black, blue and pink. The color combinations you see on the blog.

So, I started to create a logo. I did not want the logo to look faceless like that of large corporations. I wanted my logo to be friendly and attractive. So I settled on a cartoon smiling version of me that looked like this

It is important to note here that I do not understand anything in design, so I hired a professional. So, I have a goal, brand and logo!

Content Creation Strategy

When it came to content, I knew that it had to be something special. Especially considering my goal and the fact that I will promote my blog without links. Matt Katz always said the best way to get links is to create unique content.

In that video   he explains what excellent content is:

• Create content that will be useful to your community.
• Answer the basic questions in your niche

The bottom line: find out what people want, and give them that.

So here's what I did - I started browsing forums / blogs and looking for what kind of questions people have and taking notes every time I could help them with something. With notes in my hands, I came up with the names of future manuals, and then made a list of what should be in each manual.

So, I knew what my audience wanted and how I could help them. I also had the realization that every part of the content that I will publish will be the best in its niche.

So my content creation strategy was born!

Writing style

You may have heard from bloggers that you need to have your own writing style. I know that internet marketers, busy people, and time are not on my side!

So I decided that my writing style should be like this:

• Say it as it is and right to the point
• Fake Business Etiquette - Bullshit
• How would I talk to a friend in a pub
• No more than 3 sentences in a paragraph
• Short and punchy
• Let it be simple

Having chosen this style of writing, I can have fun when I write, and I hope you have fun reading! After writing a post, I always come back to it and cut sentences where possible.

Traffic Generation and Promotion Strategy

When I planned how to drive traffic to the blog, everything became very complicated. In the end, I decided to give up everything and be simpler.

I just looked for people who need help on forums / social sites, and helped them. I compiled a list of popular internet marketing forums and simply helped people by referring to my lessons as appropriate.

I also set up Google Alerts for a range of queries that warned me of new discussions on the Internet where I could help someone.

That's all - nothing more.

No PPC, no link building, no SEO, no buying advertising articles in the media, no cash costs — just good old-fashioned human communication.

Planning

You probably spent no more than 10 minutes reading my entire plan. But I want you to know that it was the result of many months of intense thinking and thinking all over again. In the end, I transferred it to paper in less than a day, but I spent months thinking it over.

Such planning is critical to the success of the blog. It is amazing how many people do not plan when they start a new business.

Keyword research is not planning. I have never done any keyword research.

Maximizing profits

So, I had a goal, a brand, I knew what my audience wanted, and I was ready to create great content.

I spent a lot of time setting up a blog to not only provide all the best to visitors, but also maximize the benefits of visitors. So I started thinking about what every visitor really can offer me.

And here is what I came up with:

The goal of online marketing is to get people to follow affiliate links and buy products. When you think about it, you should understand that this is not the most important goal. So I decided to shift the emphasis on my list:

Template selection

Great design can help, or can hurt a blog. If it is too loaded with details, it distracts users. So I was looking for a template that would be clean, simple, and easy to read.

I spent several weeks setting up the theme to achieve the goals described above.

Formation of a permanent audience

Creating a permanent blog audience is not possible without subscribing to the blog. By subscribing to the blog, visitors clearly say I want to receive information from you, it is interesting to me.

Each subscriber is a real person who has trusted you. Treat him like a real person and do not abuse his trust for the sake of a few dollars.

Social cues

Since I couldn’t build links and knew that Google was going to implement social signals in ranking algorithms, I thought about how I could use this. I used a proven and reliable method, added social media buttons to the end of my posts, and I added big ugly arrows to make them more visible!

Custom content

Custom content is a great way to fill the blog with new materials and attract visitors. When the blog was created, the only form of user-generated content was comments. I am just telling people if you have any questions, ask them in the comments.

When I started, I focused on the comments on the blog, but I knew that this not only helps to build relationships with visitors, but it is also better to rank in search engines with new and fresh content, with a natural long tail of keywords.

How to get more traffic

It also coincides with my overall goal of the blog, to get people to share my articles and tutorials on forums and blogs.

Clicks and Sales

So, I have already taken care of a lot, but how do I get clicks and sales from my affiliate links? It turns out that I no longer need to do anything. As soon as I figured out the previous goals, this area worked by itself.

My high-quality content strategy solved the affiliate sales problem. Conversions and sales from my affiliate links were natural, without any tricky tricks.

However, some tutorials are more suitable for affiliate links. Here is one example, I tried to track and manage huge volumes of backlinks, and it was inconvenient to work with these giant tables.

It turned out that many people had a similar problem and no one had a solution. In the end, I came across Inspyder - a service for monitoring and checking backlinks, and after that within a few weeks it became an important tool in my arsenal.

This gave me the opportunity to create a tutorial that teaches people how to manage their backlinks. In it, I told people how I did it and what problems arise. Then I talked about Inspyder and taught people how to use it correctly.

Here's what the process looks like in steps:

• Identify your audience’s challenges.
• Study the problem
• Give people a simple solution to the problem.
• Teach them how they can do it.

Not only do people follow affiliate links and buy a product, they also thank me for helping me solve their problem.

Create a reference explosion

Since I had a strict action plan, I spent a lot of time setting up my blog. But what good is a blog without content or traffic!

I decided that my first few blog posts should make a lot of noise and cause an avalanche of visitors.

I considered my strategy regarding the content of the articles and decided that creating and building links, especially multi-level link building systems, was an area where there was a lot of misinformation.

There were no real detailed manuals on this topic on the Internet, and it so happened that I had a lot of experience in this area.

The development of a series of articles on the creation of a multi-level link system took me a total of about 100-120 hours. And I gave all my work absolutely free!

Over the past 12 months, 99,882 visitors read this series of articles, and I earned $ 15,000 in it in the form of deductions for affiliate programs.

Many told me that I was stupid, giving such valuable information for free. If I launched a video product on sale, I would have earned a lot more money. It's true, but I got a lot more than money, I got explosive interest in my blog, people started reading my blog and link to it.

Year results

Actually, it was high time to do this, I mean, start making money on Youtube. I created your Youtube channel   almost simultaneously with the blog. If I launched the blog in May 2009, the channel opened in June 2009.

To go nuts, it's almost 5 years of missed opportunities! Oh, who would give me a kick a little earlier. There was no such person under the ass with his hand. I hope that this post I will turn out to be such a person for other people who may also have their own channel on YouTube, but he does not get any profit from it.

But even if you don’t have your own Youtube channel, then read this post to the end anyway, maybe this article will encourage you to create and monetize your channel, especially since it’s not as difficult as it might seem at first glance.

So, let's start right away with numbers. I connected the monetization of my channel in mid-October 2013 (I will write more about what monetization is below). At first I did this not quite legally, although this point is a big question.

The fact is that for Russia, the monetization functions of video content on Youtube are not yet fully available. Therefore, in order to receive income from YouTube you need to either change your country of residence in the channel settings, or become a partner of one of the media networks (read intermediaries) that have entered into an agreement with Youtube and provide their partners with the opportunity to monetize videos. However, they take a certain percentage from the authors.

So, according to the employees of the media network, to which I later connected, the rules of Youtube prohibit changing the country of location in the channel settings. That is, if you specified in the settings that you are in the USA, and you download videos from Russia yourself, this can lead to a ban.

To be honest, I myself did not find such information in the rules of Youtube. I admit that I was looking poorly, or rather, the abundance of different pages and documents in the rules of Youtube is so hard on my brain that I can’t figure it out without a bottle. And since I don’t drink, I had to take the word to the media network employees

As you may have guessed, subsequently from the illegal method of monetization, as I wrote above, I switched to legal, namely, I became a partner of a media network, which I will discuss in more detail below.

When I started, I didn’t quite believe that I would be able to earn something on the Internet. I thought all these were fairy tales. It did not fit my head that you can earn money sitting at home by the computer.

As a person who was used to working for a job, I always imagined that in order to make money, you had to go to work and do something, something tangible and real. And the Internet for me has always been associated with something virtual, that is, not quite real.

And the first thousand rubles earned became for me a confirmation, the real fact that there is money on the Internet and it is really possible to earn it. Several years have passed since then, and I have earned several million rubles on the Internet, and it all started with some miserable thousand.

The first thousand rubles earned on Youtube reminded me of that time. The time when I did NOT particularly believe in the success of my undertaking and my subsequent final results.

If I could once, starting with the first thousand rubles I earned on a blog, subsequently earn several million rubles, then why not repeat the same thing on Youtube?

More precisely, why not add to my existing sources of income another one that could potentially bring millions of rubles every year?

As you know, I am a fan of creating multiple sources of income. I recommend reading my articles on this topic:

I created my Youtube channel as an addition to my blog. Or rather, I needed to somehow broadcast the videos, which I then just tried to do.

Then I didn’t even think about making money using video. And if I thought, I had no idea how money is made on YouTube.

But to set up your channel, create a personal design, deal with playlists, enable monetization, insert annotations into videos, make a correct description for each video, provide it with accompanying tags, promote it in the issue - it was very difficult for me.

But no matter how long I put off resolving this issue - sooner or later I would still have to face the fact that today youtube.com is third most popular site in the world   after the Google search engine and the social network Facebook.

And if we talk about the search for information, then in our country the third search engine (only by video) after Google and Yandex. That is, Youtube is no longer just a means of entertainment, although it is entertainment content that makes up the bulk of YouTube views. This service is also for many people an alternative to standard search engines.

People go to YouTube not only to have fun, but also to learn or learn something, because for many people it is much easier to learn through video.

Thus, from all that has been said, the following conclusion can be drawn: to ignore the huge traffic (high traffic) of people who hang out on Youtube every day is simply stupid.

To me, as a person who develops in the Internet sphere, as a person who makes money on the Internet, I cannot pass by this. With the help of YouTube, I can close many questions:

• I can make money, and you, by the way, too;
• You can redirect part of the traffic from YouTube to your sites;
• You can redirect part of the traffic to partner sites;
• You can increase your popularity and brand recognition (I do not like this word, but still).

But what I definitely like about Youtube. it’s an opportunity to calculate your potential income using specific data. To make you understand what I'm talking about, remember some of your business ideas. In order for your business idea to be realized, you need to calculate everything in advance in order to understand whether the game is worth the candle.

In practice, it is impossible to take into account all the nuances and force majeure circumstances. Because of which, many newcomers are very far from reality. I think because of this, there are situations when 9 out of 10 new businesses go to the bottom in the first year of their existence.

Every day Youtube gives me accurate statistics based on which I can calculate what I need to do in order to increase my income.

For example, I deduced statistics for a month and I see that:

• The average number of views per day on my channel is 531;
• The average number of clicks on ads in my videos is 25;
• The average income that I get at the same time is $ 1.04 per day.
• About 90 videos have been uploaded on my channel at the moment, which were downloaded just like that, without being tied to any keywords and specific user requests, that is, not optimized.
• On average, each video is viewed about 6 times a day.

To increase the amount of earnings on Youtube I need to increase the number of views. You can do this in various ways, for example, upload new videos, or optimize and promote existing clips. Better yet, do both.

To achieve this, I need to upload to my channel:

• 200 266   once a day;
• Or 500 videos, each of which will be viewed 107   once a day;
• Or 1000   videos, each of which will be viewed 54   once a day.

Now on my channel 90 videos. If you aim at 1000 clips, then I need to create another 910 clips. That is, you need to create and upload about 3 clips to your channel every day during the year. Plus, you need to consider that you need to increase the view of each video to 54 from the 6 views that I have now.

The task is difficult, but realizable. I’m not going to make three videos every day. Most likely I will do it much more slowly. At the moment, speed is not so important to me. I have other sources of income.

Therefore, I consider Youtube as a long-playing tool that will bring me sufficient income in 2-3 years

What I like the most about this venture is that it doesn’t require large investments to organize a business of this kind. If you read this article, then you have a computer and Internet access. This alone is not enough, we need one more small trifle, namely the head on the shoulders))

It takes a little imagination, creativity and knowledge of programs for processing and editing videos. And here you need to be afraid of more than the first two points than knowledge of specialized software.

The available programs are now a dime a dozen. But you can’t download brains from the Internet ...

At the time I registered, I was about 16 years old. For some reason, it seemed to me that you can work, click and make money. Of course, as probably other people, I was tired of clicking all sorts of advertising sites in vain and I switched to tasks, but getting pennies for them, too, thoughts began to come that I couldn’t make a lot of money.

The axle boxes were replaced by social networks, namely the Sarafanka service. It seemed to me that he offered more favorable conditions and it was so, because when the social network VKontakte appeared, it was possible to join groups, invite friends without restrictions and this was a big plus in working on services.

Having worked in this very service, I was not able to earn mountains of money, but still, I pulled out several hundred rubles from there. This was also not what I wanted, and I searched further. By the way, at that time it was possible to get more money from the service, but only a small number of tasks bothered, therefore, it did not work out to earn a lot. Also, there was another good service that allowed you to work with Facebook, but there were also few tasks in it (

Forex came to replace the above - this is the worst thing I got into. Of course, I did not invest any money and for the sake of interest I registered on the forum, in which the currency for communication was credited. The essence of the experiment in earning was that on the forum you could collect $ 10 of virtual currency and use it to start on forex, which is exactly what I did.

After such unsuccessful attempts, I somehow did not want to continue to work using the Internet, although it was rather difficult to call what I was doing work, because I do not consider work to be where you just need to do something and get a penny for it. After these failures, such a thing as earning on the Internet was forgotten. Forgotten for several years.

After another thought about making money, I came across one interesting site on which a method of cooperation with Chinese stores was described, namely the AliExpress store. Since I order a lot of things on it, I knew what this store was like and I decided to work with affiliate programs.

First, there was aliEpn program   with which I work to this day. At first, of course, it was not possible to pull out anything, or rather, I just worked in the wrong direction, but after a certain search for information, sales slowly started, more precisely, the calculation of my percentage of the sale.

Slowly I recruited buyers to my group on the social network in Vkontakte, sales were going on, people were buying, though not very willingly, although I wanted several hundred people, half of which were ordinary entry-sharing accounts.

Unfortunately, the official AliExpress program cut down the buyers' session and the person began to record for the partner not for 30 days, but only for one browser session. That is, by clicking on your link, if a person closes the browser and opens it again, then the sale will not count. But there is a good side to this matter. The percentage of sales became equal to 8, despite the fact that before there were goods that offered 1, 2, 3 percent. This is a big plus that now absolutely all products with the same commission.

Thanks to this, the session’s lifetime fell, and the income, in principle, remained at the level.

After starting in this affiliate program I was registered in the affiliate program Admit, in which I also work to this day. This very program offers many employers, goods and services with which you can make good money. Only everything needs its own approach and efforts.

Also, I tried copywriting and freelance, in both places there is money, it’s paid, but this is probably the story of the second part of the article, and for today I will most likely finish the story about the history of my earnings.
