How to make Captain America's iron shield. How does Captain America’s shield work? Vibranium - the most durable metal of the Marvel Cinema Universe

Captain America is a famous science fiction film hero created by the Marvel Campaign. The hero’s special weapon is the shield. Thousands of little boys dream of him, imagining himself a superhero.

You can make Captain America’s shield with your own hands. Of course, it will not be as durable, but in boy’s fantasies, the shield will hit everyone on the spot and protect against any weapon. The main thing is to believe in it.

Material needed

  • Old newspaper
  • Large balloon (inflated 1 m diameter)
  • pVA glue
  • White paper (for printer)
  • Putty (white)
  • Sandpaper (Fine Grain)
  • Paint and brushes

Working process

Inflate the balloon to the desired size and lightly sprinkle it with talcum powder (baby powder) or ordinary baking flour. Marker to draw the borders of the shield. PVA glue (it will be needed a lot, therefore it is better to get glue in a hardware store in a large capacity) pour into a bowl. Tear the newspaper into small pieces and, dipping them in glue, stick to the ball. Glue the newspaper to the place marked with a marker.

After 5 layers are glued to the ball, leave it to dry overnight. The next day, five more newspaper layers should be glued and left to dry again overnight. After the newspaper has dried it is necessary to glue 3 layers of white paper (also tearing it into pieces) and leave the ball to dry for a day until the paper completely dries (if the paper is not dry, leave it for another day).

A fully dried thick layer of paper (the base of the shield) can easily be removed from a ball that is no longer needed.

Glue the base of the shield from the inside with one layer of white paper and leave to dry for a couple of hours.

Putty putty according to the instructions on the packaging. It is important that it be white. Apply the primer to the shield first on one side, and after drying on the other. It must be applied in an even layer.

If irregularities are not completely leveled with one layer, apply another after drying.

After the primer has completely dried, sand the shield with sandpaper and wipe it well from dust. Coat with a primer.

The shield is ready for painting. You can paint it with any paints (from spray can, enamel or ordinary gouache). To make the circles even, you need to make a paper stencil and gently stick it to the shield so that you can easily remove it later. To paint in parts: first with one color, then, after complete drying, with another.

Inside the shield also needs to be painted.

After waiting for the paint to dry completely, cover the shield with varnish. It will protect the product from water and dirt. After the varnish has dried, a handle must be attached to the shield. It can be made from an old belt (in this case it will be flexible) and glued to the shield with Liquid Nails glue. You can bend the handle from a metal plate and wrap it with a cloth.

Now the universe will be protected. After all, a new Captain America appeared.

Salute to everyone! I know that you love Adamantium and all that. You asked for a long time to talk about whether someone broke Cap's shield, one of the most durable alloys in the entire Marvel universe. The topic is not new, but if asked - get it.

Let me remind you that it was created by the scientist Myron MacLane. During the war, he wanted to create an indestructible alloy to create invincible tanks. Using vibrations, steel and picking up various catalysts. The scientist fell asleep in his laboratory and at that time the components mixed randomly, creating the most durable alloy that man has ever created. However, he did not recognize the proportions and what served as the catalyst. In an attempt to reproduce the resulting alloy, the scientist created the true adamantium, but because what happened initially is called protoadamantium. But the rounded disk protoadamantium was created, and I wanted to use it somehow. And since it so happened that an alloy was created for military purposes, the disk was painted, “added” a couple of straps on the concave side and given to the largest war heroes of that time, Captain America.

Incidentally, I must say that Cap was originally used a triangular shield. First, ordinary steel. And even then he used it as a symbol, for the flag was already on the shield. Then, in the course of his adventures, he enters Wakanda and fights against the Nazis with Grandfather T'Chal there, his original shield breaks and there is a little confusion - somewhere they write that he receives a shield from vibranium as a reward, which, as you understand, was quite strong, and it cost a considerable mountain of money. But, unfortunately, after some time he had to be returned, and in some comics he was simply inspired by the shield of Grandfather T’Chaly, who he was so successfully metal, and made himself, again, a steel but round shield. And only then he received his classic round shield created by MacLane solemnly handed this symbol to him, the president of that time, Franklin Roosevelt.

The shield had a whole bunch of unique properties:

  1. Firstly, it was aerodynamic and flew well over long distances. If he didn’t crash into anything, then he would return through the air like a boomerang. At the same time, he was resilient and, in contact with an obstacle, bounced off him, which the Captain often used to “knock out” several enemies at once. Interestingly, managing this flight was extremely difficult. When Cap was temporarily dead, they tried to hand over the shield to someone else from the Shield staff, sorry for the tautology. The test was to throw him at the target and catch him. Of the 77 who tried, 73 were hospitalized, while the rest received less severe injuries. With proper acceleration and rotation, Cap could throw a shield, cutting off obstacles or cutting off his hands, followed by the destruction of Tesseract, for example.
  2. It’s also like it’s not affected by electromagnetic forces, at least Magneto couldn’t always twist it as he pleases, correct me in the comments if this is not so.
  3. But the main advantage of the shield, of course, was its absorption of vibration and kinetic energy, it was due to this that Cap withstood the blows of Thor, the Hulk and such high falls. Without a shield after such a landing, maybe he would have survived, but he wouldn’t run anywhere else.

But now, I think, the most interesting is who and how broke this shield.

Cap's shield broke more than once during his early adventures. The authors liked to shout that the shield did not destroy, but they often broke it to make the effect better, explaining that Stark took a real shield into it and replaced it with a replica. Yes, and you can not talk about inconsistencies that begin in such cases. Authors can do anything.

The first in the comics in 1963, Cap’s real shield was broken by the molecular man Owen Rees, the owner of part of the forces of Byonder or the Otherworldly, but not physical strength, but molecular. Managing atoms, he simply broke Cap's shield, Silver Surfer's board, Thor's hammer, and Iron Man's costume. So, in a way, “quadrupled”, this is not a punch or something like that. However, then he returned everything back.

The next time was only after almost 20 years in 1985 during the events of Sekret Wars. There, already marked above, the Otherworld arranged fights between heroes and villains on another planet in another galaxy. By the way, it was during these events that Spider-Man found his Symbiote, well, that's the way it is. The otherworldly promised that the winners would receive everything they could imagine, for everything is subject to him, and he does this, stupidly, out of interest. So, there was Doctor Doom, who wanted to possess this power for a short while, but was able to get the powers of the Otherworld, which could allow him to destroy galaxies even entire universes. And at this time, Doom launched a powerful energy attack on the assembly of heroes, almost destroying them and at the same time breaking Cap's shield. But, as usual, the heroes survived, Doom was defeated, and the Otherworld fulfilled the wishes of Cap and restored his shield, no, ask to destroy Hydra, well, this is whoever needs it, it would be uninteresting.

Thanos also broke it in 1991, recall that when he collected all the infinity stones with the same glove and received all the same breathtaking powers, Titan destroyed half of his life in the universe, as he was in love with death, not with abstract death, namely with the character symbolizing death. And thus, I wanted to impress her. Naturally, everyone opposed this insanity, and when Cap ran out to Thanos to insert his 5 kopecks, he only waved his left hand away, from which the shield shattered into pieces. After this, Nebula took advantage of the trick, took her glove off and changed reality, turned all the damage back, including Cap's shield.

In 1998, by coincidence, Cap drowned his shield on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean and did not have time to raise it, so for some time I went with another shield. You can probably give a few words to the fact that when Steve lost, broke his shield or the government took him when he was at odds with Cap, Rogers used substitutions. So he was presented with an adamantium shield from Stark, a round vibranium shield from the Black Panther, an oismium shield from Dr. Doom and several energy shields that can either simply repel attacks, or even change shape, turn into a melee weapon and sometimes shoot clots of energy.

And by the way, many in the comments asked to mention - in the last issues, where Cap became subject to the Red Skull through the space cube, the scenarios that were predicted by all and sundry, Cap uses a shield more close to the initial version, however, with some innovations.

  • Firstly, from the bottom, he can put forward a small energy blade that cuts everything well, and secondly, he can split the shield in half if he wants to “knock” it in both hands. However, back to the Atlantic Ocean, after some time, Cap’s shield was found at the bottom and raised. However, not the whole, but in the form of fragments. The pressure at the bottom of the ocean is certainly gigantic, but not for this miracle of rafting. Having analyzed and considered everything, Starkt explained that, apparently, when the shield was restored after the secret wars, it had the slightest molecular defect. And every time they hit the shield, since then this defect has been expanding and expanding making the shield fragile, but the bottom of the ocean has “penetrated” the shield. Stark, of course, ironically called this phenomenon cancer vibranium.
  • At the same time, another “stupid” problem arose - the shield was connected with all the other vibrations on the planet and the smallest, and then all the big pieces and ingots of this metal began to explode. Soon, the global storage of vibranium in Wakanda was to explode, moreover, by the power of nuclear warheads. Kap ran to help, but on the way he ran into a criminal called Klo, he controls the sound waves and when he shot a sound at Kap's glued shield, I don’t know why he glued it, somehow restored its structure and general integrity. Yes, you can’t talk about the delusional nature of the explosion of vibration, as well as the repair and gluing of the shield with sound. I just tell you how it was.
  • You can also mention one moment in 2003, when Thor and Rogers did not find understanding, the god of Asgard did not destroy, but bent the shield upon impact. However, then he had the power of Odin, well, and then he set the dent back.
  • And in 2004, in one of the possible alternative realities, where Thor again possessed the power of Odin, runic magic and fully revealed his potential, he destroyed Cap and his shield with rays from his eyes. In my opinion, he fried Wolverine there too, but that doesn't matter. However, King Thor soon returned back in time and corrected everything.
  • The last to break Cap's shield was the Serpent in 2011 and 2012. This is Uncle Thor, imprisoned a long time ago. In the events of Firet Self, the daughter of the Red Skull did not release him voluntarily, but, nevertheless, he began to take revenge and so on and so forth. It is important for us that he gained a lot of strength in one of the fights, Cap threw his shield, but he caught it and broke it with his bare hands.

Yes, by the way, I completely forgot to ask, write in the comments who, in your opinion, is also strong to destroy the shield. I would be interested to read and respond to your comments. Then the snake certainly lost, but managed to kill Thor, by the way, it was in these events that Steve raised Thor's hammer, proving that he was worthy. Well, Stark took the shield to Asgard, using ur, the magic metal from which the hammer of Thor and the dwarven smiths was created, repaired Cap's shield and sprayed it with ur, which made it even stronger than before. Although, for a while, there was a large dent in it in the form of a fault line, but Cap said that this only gives his old girl a little character. I hope you enjoyed it. I «rummaged around’ in order to tell you more interestingly and more fully about this, and then please do not skimp on like and leave a comment. This helps us in the development of the site. Thanks for watching and happily!

Marvel and DiS have firmly established themselves on the podium of the best superhero comic book publishers. Children around the world idolize their characters: Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Iron Man and others.

One of the most memorable heroes of the Marvel universe is Stephen Rogers, also known as Captain America. Difficult and the hero gave him the love of thousands of fans. The main weapon of Captain America is a shield painted in the colors of the flag of the United States of America.

The life path of Stephen Rogers in the universe of comics and films varies. But only one thing remains unchanged - his shield.

Captain america: character story

Stephen Grant Rogers was born long before World War I. July 4, 1920 Sarah Rogers gave birth to her first child. Steve's father soon died in the war and his mother raised him alone.

Rogers grew up a frail and sickly child, suffered from asthma, he had poor hearing and vision. During the call to war, he was refused time after time. But once luck smiled at a young man and the guy became part of an experiment to create super-soldiers. Thanks to serum, his body changed and reached the peak of its capabilities.

Strength, speed, regeneration have become much better than that of an ordinary person. But in the last months of the war, Steve disappeared. Later, already in modern times, he was found in the ice. Soon after, Captain America joined the Avengers.

Vibranium - the most durable metal of the Marvel Cinema Universe

Many Rogers fans wonder, “What is Captain America’s shield made of?” The superhero's favorite weapon is created by their alloy of vibranium - the most durable metal in the world. Destroy it almost impossible. The shield is capable of absorbing energy so that even Hulk strikes do no harm to the Captain.

After it became known what the shield of Captain America is made of, it becomes interesting why weapons from this alloy were no longer made. The fact is that vibranium is a rare and expensive metal, it is not so much. But fans should not despair because their own shield can be made from improvised materials.

How to make Captain America's shield made of cardboard and paper

Is it possible using only paper products to create an object that will look like a legendary shield? There are several options for how to make Captain America’s shield out of paper and other materials at hand. One of the easiest ways is to cut it out of thick cardboard.

The optimal radius is from 60 to 70 centimeters. Next, you need to carefully cut the circle and paste the edges with paper tape. The next step is painting. The first circle is the central one. It occupies a third of the total area and should be painted blue. Next, the remaining space must be divided into three circles of the same width. After the lines have been drawn, it is time to paint. Phased circles are painted red, white and red again.

The last step is a white star in a blue circle. It must be drawn carefully: it should occupy the whole circle, but not go beyond it. Then there is painting and drying. A cardboard shield is ready.

Captain America's shield made of metal

For any fan of superheroes, becoming the owner of their individual weapons is a great success. The same applies to fans of Captain America. His shield is the personification of the idea of \u200b\u200bthe character’s path.

And when it’s already clear what Captain America’s shield is made of, many want to get a copy of it for themselves. But it costs a lot of money, so you often have to look for other ways to get a shield. In such cases, many people think about how to make Captain America’s shield with their own hands.

Since Rogers weapons have a clear shape - a circle, then not every material is suitable for work. Paper and cardboard is a budget option, as bad weather can easily ruin it.

But there is a good alternative - steel. But how to make Captain America’s shield made of metal?

In order to make a shield with your own hands, you will need:

  • The sheet of steel is convex in shape.
  • Screws.
  • Paint.
  • Belts.
  • Screwdriver.
  • Drill.
  • Grinder

All fans know what Captain America’s shield is made of. A fictitious metal cannot be found, but it can be replaced by a commonly available analogue - steel.

To begin with, it is necessary to draw a circle on a sheet of steel, the recommended radius of which is thirty-three centimeters. Also on the outside should be drawn three more circles, the same as on the original shield. Then you need to cut off the excess parts. Using a grinder, you need to polish the outside without erasing the drawn circles.

The original shield of Captain America consists of four rings: red, white, red again and the main blue, in the center of which is a white star. The circles have a diameter of 12, 19, 26 and 33 centimeters. Painting is carried out in several stages.

Optionally, you can change the colors on the shield. For example, in the movie "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", Captain America’s shield did not resemble the US flag.

Attributes "Marvel": purchase in online stores

You can get Captain America’s shield in one more way. Online stores around the world are actively promoting the attributes of superheroes from comics and films. Finding Captain America’s shield is easy. True, it will cost more than a hundred dollars.

Captain America's shield.

Step 6: The Artwork of All Americans

You have a solid primer coat. So, once everything is dry, it's time for the stars and stripes. Carefully cover the entire surface of the shield with silver paint. We give time to dry, then for a better coating, apply another layer of silver paint.

Note:

Be careful when painting, stay away from everything that you do not want to paint, for example, at home, cars or other valuables. Wind can carry spray paint over long distances. I understood this from my bitter experience.

Now that your silver shield has dried, it's time to add a little red. Take the strips of your masking tape, be sure to completely cover the middle strip and the center circle if you want to keep them silver. Everything that was not covered with masking tape will turn red. Maybe you will be interested in how you can cover a rounded edge with straight edges of masking tape? Well, by making grooves, you can not only make the shield awesome, but also take advantage of them.

Use your nails or a thin blunt object, pressing on the round folds to define circles under the tape. Then use a sharp blade and cut off the excess. Continue painting with multiple layers of red until the color becomes solid and silver appears through it.

Using similar procedures, cover the star and the remainder of the shield with blue. As for the rest of the layers, I recommend that you paint gradually. Make sure that all the small details look fine and tidy and you have completed this step.

Step 7: Small Details

It's time to add what makes the shield popular! The star on the shield suggests a slightly smaller star, engraved inside the first, with rivets at the tops of the star. I want the exact same look, without a really riveted shield, because it will ruin the paint. Therefore, I chose a cheaper, safer method and purchased nails that look identical to rivets.

When engraving a smaller star, print a slightly smaller star (again, these should be your own sizes), you should draw with a thinner marker. After that, I suggest engraving to a depth that should be shallow, do not use electric tools. I used a very small flat head screwdriver, leisurely and carefully engraved the small star.

After you have engraved a star, install special furniture nails at its tops. Through this detailed process, you will remove some of the paint, so sand the star and apply another coat of paint.

Congratulations, you have finished the front of the shield. You can apply a couple of semi-gloss protective layers and move to the back of the shield.

Step 8: Metalworking

In this step, you will need to reinstall the blade in engraversince it is time to cut some metal.

Measure tape measure  a rectangle of steel 13 cm long. You will need four rectangles. Also measure two rectangles 24 cm long.

After all the parts are cut out, cut off the ends of the 24 cm rectangles and one end of the 13 cm rectangle by an angle of inclination of 30º. Strive to make them look like in the photo.

Use two cable ties on each 13 cm piece of metal, especially on even ends. Make sure that the rectangular contour is inside the tie clamps when you fasten them.

To give the metal the appearance that it is screwed into the shield, although not actually screwed, you need to screw the screws into the metal. However, strive so that they do not protrude from the metal, for this cut off the excess. After alignment, you have two options:

  1. Glue the metal to the inside of the shield with superglue.
  2. Use putty, as mentioned earlier in instructable, which will ensure the attachment of metal to the shield, which will give the appearance of welded metal.

Step 9: Add Skin

You will need to shorten your belts by independently determining the length for different parts of the hands. Cut two ribbons 28 cm long from the ends of each belt (4 in total).

It is also necessary to cut one piece 23 cm long from each belt (total 2). Set aside the rest of the belt.

Start by attaching with a 28 cm belt through both D-rings and rectangular rings and connect the belt, as in the photo, on all four sides. Then take two 23 cm pieces of belts, thread them into two rectangular rings, fasten them together, as shown in the photo.

Now it's time to add the main pens. Remember the mounted two rectangular rings fixed on a piece 23 cm long? Those that will slip in the left belt buckle will be your handles. You need to take a drill and make some small holes so that the buckle can fasten.

Step 10: Providing Magnets

Somewhere magnets were invented ... People, I love magnets!

I found that by gluing ten magnets to a belt and metal, I can secure the shield. Since your shield may differ from mine, you should place the magnets yourself. However, at least I can show how I posted them.

Note:

The attraction of a magnet to a magnet is much stronger than that of a magnet to metal. Therefore, if you want a better connection, glue several magnets and place them on the shield, where they will be connected to the magnets on the belt.

Step 11: Time to admire

Congratulations, Captain. Now you have your shield!  What are you going to do with it? Take it to ComiCon, share it with friends, fight crime in your area. Do whatever you decide with him. I hope you enjoyed it tinkering  as much as me.

Thanks for reading and good luck!

Today, our site will be replenished with three scans of the truly legendary Captain America Shield. The Vibranium-Steel alloy from which the shield is made is considered the most durable in the Marvel Comics. Many attempts were made to duplicate the composition of the shield, but not one of the attempts was successful. This shield has not only super-strength, due to the presence of Vibranium in its composition, it is able to absorb a large amount of kinetic energy. The weight of the original Shield is 5.44 kg. Diameter - 76 cm.

The first model is positioned as the most difficult to assemble, but also the most detailed. In pepakura, it occupies 31 pages, and when assembled, it is 90 cm in diameter. An excellent reason to make this version of the shield, if you are 2 meters tall and 120 kg in weight! But seriously - I advise you to reduce the size before assembling at least to the original 76 cm.

The second sweep of Captain America’s shield is more suitable for beginners, as well as for people who love fast results. Why? Because it’s quite easy to make Captain America’s shield in this design, the model itself has simple but vibrant textures, and is only 40 cm in diameter. A. It takes 10 pages in peepakure.

The third model is my favorite. It is a cardboard shield. When printing, it takes only 3 pages, the complexity of the assembly is simple. What makes the model so good? The fact that it is optimal in diameter (IMHO), and is 60 cm. It took about 3 hours and one and a half glue sticks to assemble (the first work with cardboard). So, from the pluses - if you take the part highlighted in the screenshot and duplicate it five times from thin corrugated cardboard - you get an excellent embossed star without the use of epoxyline and plasticine. Outside the sweep is a handle that is best made from ordinary straps.
